“To be human is to struggle. Eventually we realize that when we sit under the umbrella of “shoulds”—“This shouldn’t be so hard. I should be happy.”—the pain rains down harder. But when we accept the fact that anxiety, depression, loneliness, powerlessness, grief, joy, and exhilaration are all part of the design, we step out into the rain and perhaps even dance a little.”13
– Sheryl Paul, The Wisdom of Anxiety
About
As a registered social worker and psychotherapist, I am happy to offer mental health therapy to individuals experiencing diverse challenges and experiences including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, interpersonal difficulties, communication challenges, and to those impacted by cancer, whether a personal diagnosis, a family member, friend, or caregiver. I use a client-centered, trauma-informed integrative approach to psychotherapy grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I provide a non-judgmental, open and safe space for you to talk about your experience, explore what you value, what matters most to you, and what you are hopeful for in creating a path forward. We can work together to discover new ways of coping, gain resources and tools helpful to your specific interests, and move in a direction of living well today.
What to Expect
Our initial session is a chance for us to get to know each other, where we can explore what motivated you to book an appointment, what you hope for out of the therapeutic experience, and I can answer any questions you might have. I’ll support you to determine if I am a therapist fit for what you are looking for. It is always an honour to be a trusted person to walk beside someone during a time of difficulty or challenge. If we work together, we’ll look to build upon your strengths and insights moving in a direction meaningful to you.
Booking Individual Counselling
I offer in-person, virtual, and phone therapy services. You can book an initial appointment or free 15 min consultation a few different ways: sending me a message through my CONTACT page, or using the button below.
Rates and Insurance
The fee for a 50-minute session is $150 plus 13% HST. Forms of payment include email money transfer, cheque, cash, or credit card. Most private health insurance providers cover the services of a Registered Social Worker, and if you are unsure about your coverage, you can always contact your insurance company to confirm the type and amount of coverage they provide.
