Details: Through interactive experiential learning, this training provides participants a solid foundational understanding of MI to build upon. The core elements of MI (MI SPIRIT, Change Talk, OARS, 4 Processes) are introduced. We explore some of the theories which support MI and its efficacy (Psychological Reactance, Social Dominance Theory) in order to build a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play within the worker / client relationship. Participants are supported to connect the material to the context of their specific work, and start the journey of integrating MI into practice. This training is for individuals with minimal / no previous MI training history, or for individuals with some MI training who have not integrated it into practice and would like to reconnect with the approach.
